“If you use the right tools, take the right actions, you
will get the right results.”
– Annie Abraham
When I used to read books of successful people, I would try to find what they did that was different from the things that I was doing. What were the 2 percenters doing that set them apart from the 98 percent.
That was when I came across the Rule Of 5, which I like to call the Secret 5. Why you may ask, because it is so basic, yet people don’t use it, which is why it is like a secret.
If you have a tree in you backyard which you want to cut, imagine that it is a big tree, and cutting it down in just one day would be hard. So, what you do is you take you axe, and swing it 5 times everyday. Each day you do it, at first there is barely a dent, but soon enough, the tree will fall.
Big or small, it doesn’t matter, if you swing at it everyday it will eventually fall. It is not about the size of the tree, it is about what you are doing everyday.
Goals are just like that, start small. The rule of 5 starts with you finding your tree, your goal.
Again, the size doesn’t matter.
It could be writing five lines in your book every day. Or doing five push ups. It’s not fifteen or twenty, just five. It could be taking five minutes of your time to listen to something motivational. Just five things you can do everyday.
Are you using the right tools?
What is your axe that you are using? Is it the pen? The computer? The gym?
What tools are you using to cut down your goal?
If you use the right tools, take the right actions, you will get the right results.
Imagine taking a baseball bat and hitting the tree, is the tree going to fall? NO!
Now you may wonder, how you can apply this Secret 5 to your life.
Well, I am glad you asked.
Suppose you want to lose a certain amount of weight and live a healthy life, what are the five things you can do? You could work out everyday, eat healthy, sleep for 7-8 hours, drink 2-3 litters of water everyday, and doing affirmations that is directed to your health.
When Jack Canfield wanted to publish his book, “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” he too had his Secret 5.
He started doing five radio interviews, and five television interviews.
So, what is the tool that you will use to cut down your tree?
And how are you going to apply this Secret 5 to your life and dreams.
