Life And Death Is In The Power
Of The Tongue
My husband would always tell me that I’d do better if I would talk less.
I tend to talk when I am excited, nervous, bored or uncomfortable. In general, I talk a lot.
Whenever I am alone, I put on my audio book and listen to it on high volume and speed, to fill the silence.
Can you relate?
It feels like your jaw will never stop flapping.
Don’t deny it. I am not. So, don’t worry, you are not alone in the section of the gum flappers.
Sometimes, do you even know what words are coming out of your mouth?
The Bible says “LIFE and DEATH is in the POWER of the TONGUE.”
Here is another one that will help, “Be quick to listen and slow to speak.”
Growing up I always heard the phrase, “You will amount to nothing.” It hurts even more when it’s your loved ones who say things like that.
WORDS HAVE WEIGHT
Have you ever just thought about the words that are coming out of your mouth?
What words that come out of your mouth is very important.
Lynyrd Skynyrd front man Ronnie Van Zandt commented several times, that he wouldn’t live to see 30.
He died less than three months before his 30th birthday.
Bob Marley told his family that he would die at 36.
At the age of 36, he died of cancer
I am not trying to scare you. I am saying that it is very important that you pay attention to the words that are coming out of your mouth.
I wish the staff here served better,
I wish I had a bigger house,
I wish I had a nicer car,
I wish I had better stuff in my house.
Negativity slows down your progress.
Can you imagine what it would be like if the words that come out of your mouth were, no complains, no blaming, or giving excuses.
Imagine that the words that you spoke would be sweet like honey, giving love, encouragement, and compliments to others.
The more you complain, the more you words will spiral out of control.
It’s like trying to untangle a messy knot.
If your focus is always on negativity, it will show up on the outside and it will be what your friends and family see in you. It is so easy to complain, when in reality your words are creating your situation. It starts to become harder to notice and identify that your words are causing you trouble.
Your mouth is made to give praise worthy words about others, not to speak bitter complaints and put blames on others.
“Your words can either give you a sturdy foothold, or give you a slippery slope.”
Negativity can take your focus of your goals, and future.
I’m sure that you have heard people say this phrase, ‘I am not complaining about my situation, I’m just saying.’
You words may not make a huge difference in your eyes, but it is.
“I’m saying” in itself is a complain that is making you remain where you are.
Just like me, you can take complete control and you can change your attitude.
If I can do it, then so can you.
Your life can change if YOU change your perspective.
So, change your words from ‘I wish or I hate’, to ‘I can, and I am so grateful for…’
Start being thankful for the things you have right now, rather than wishing for things you don’t have.
Your words can either create or break opportunities for you.
Gratefulness and positivity can bring in more opportunities.
So, shut up and rise to the next level; shut up and rise to change your circumstances; shut up and rise and start defining your success.
Shut up and rise to be the best version of yourself, and a role model for your family.
Just shut up and rise to create your own destiny with unshakable confidence.
